I feel for you Tricia & I’ve realised Christmas had to change for me now. I will be on my own this year, although it’s my daughters turn. She & my son in law want to be on their own .

It puts Christmas in perspective. I was a little "put out" when my son said he wasn't coming for Boxing Day (tradition at ours for nearly 40 years) and instead is taking his family to Scotland. Hmmph, I wasn't too impressed having just frozen a very large turkey and wondering how only 7 people were going to finish it up. But as my daughter said, it will be a quiet Christmas, yes different to the usual, but that's good and also there will be more space round the table to spread out and somewhere to sit rather than the floor. So, out of everything that seems, at the time is not well, there is also an upside! I just want to chill out with the grandkids and we shall celebrate as a family on NY eve instead when I can watch the little ones open their presents. Oh and I shall also have a drink to celebrate doing it differently! Enjoy your Christmas - even if it's different.

I feel for you. Some couples seem to think of only their side in an argument or divorce. We are lucky that my husband's ex wife is fine with us. We exchange cards at Christmas and have had birthday parties for both of her children with her attending with her new partner, no problem. Just have to take an Adult view of life and get on with it! Hope you sort out who is sleeping where! As I run a B and B we just close over Christmas and open up to family. So will be hosting for 7 adults and 2 children and 3 dogs! which will be fantastic. Loads of noise and lots of food, I am starting to sort out menu's now as 3 adults will be staying from18th to 28 th? Love having family round , I just get a lot of main stuff cooked and then get help doing veg on each day, seems to work. Have a lovely Christmas and enjoy your family Love Helen

Oh Tricia! How sad is it that your ex has to be so childish. How long can someone stay angry? Is it really worth it? Sad, for him, for your kids and your grandkiddies. Alas, some people will never understand. I travel to my brother and his family for Christmas and I stay at a local hotel. I like to be able to step away and have some peace and it works for us (although I have to admit I’m there early til late). After 2 years alone because of lockdown and then covid at my brother’s, I am keeping all my fingers crossed that covid doesn’t stop for a visit on the family again. I am looking forward to turkey and all the goodies after two years of nothing even remotely Christmas like. I’m sorry this is long. I wish you the very happiest of Birthdays and a very Merry Christmas with those near and dear.
