Hi Tricia, Just read your above blog and had to laugh at the Marie Kondo book reference. I have a lovely friend who has the book and has sorted her house out to a small flat within an inch of its life and kept on about the book every time I spoke to her. Fortunately I am a really, really organised person and have resisted the temptation of buying the book. Looking forward to reading your other blogs. Regards from Perth, W.Australia.

Oh Tricia, Your description of clearing out your home rang so many bells. And as you identify each article from old handbags, drawers and so on, I kept thinking “Yes.!’ve found those.” But in spite of so many attempts at “decluttering” or whatever it’s called, unlike you, I am a failure. I get sidetracked whenever I have to make decisions about anything sentimental. So your new category of “Remembrance of Precious Things Past” could be just what I need. The act of putting things here, could be the answer to acting and then moving on with the wretched clearing out I loathe. Genius! Thank you. Juliet

Well Tricia your blog certainly brightened up a dull damp November Sunday - thank you! I also have drawers full of scarves and thick tights! The problem with sorting out cupboards etc I always find emotional correspondence from years ago and spend along time going over the past - good luck with the building work it will be worth it x

Dear Tricia Haha! I read your blog with interest and laughter as it reminded me of just the same upheaval I have had this year. Twenty two years of living in a house and clutter brought into the house at that time from a business I ran for fifteen years earlier. I am quite OCD so my home was reasonably tidy with all the usual 'stuff' accumulated while living as a family. But my horror was the overflowing loft and full to the rafters garage which was so difficult to clear and put pressure on myself and my partner ( none of which was much of his ). I had known for years that it needed sorting but I needed help and my partner was not really in the mind to do it. So when our home was sold in June it just had to be done. We must have had around ten trips to the dump, various bags with trips to the Charity shops and selling sprees on fb marketplace. It was an horrendous time but also quite cathartic once it was all done. So I sympathise with you at this stressful time but take it slowly and think about how great your new living area will be once you get back in and settled. I don't know about you but now I intend to be a bit more minimalist. Will it happen? Well we'll see. Janex
