Makeup Magic:

All Things Party Makeup

Mature Makeup Artists Tricia Cusden and Sally Deung show us how to elevate your makeup for the party season by adding shimmer, shine, and above all taking your time!

To discover their top party makeup tips, watch the video above or read our short summary below...

Party Makeup Quick-Fire Tips

> Preparation is key. Decide on what you will wear and then choose your makeup accordingly

> Practice your makeup beforehand if you can

> Don't be afraid to spend double your usual amount of time on your makeup. The more time you take, the more polished the results will be

> Elevate, but don't deviate from your usual makeup look. Going too wildly different and adding too much glitter and glitz will look too heavy and clumsy

> It's not a case of 'eyes or lips'. Smoky eyes and strong lipstick actually complement each other by creating balance and harmony in the face

> After you have finished applying all your products, go in close with a magnifying mirror and find any flaws that may need finessing

How To Create Sally's Party Makeup Look...

1. Your Base

> Primers are essential for longevity and perfection. Start with Face Prime to keep your makeup looking fresh all night

> Apply your foundation first and then use concealer under your eyes and where you have any blemishes. Layer it on a little thicker than you would for a daytime look

> Translucent Powder applied over your concealer with 'set' it and keep it from moving around your face or creasing. Apply all over with a kabuki brush or in precision areas with an Eyeshadow Blending Brush

2. Your Eyes

2. Your Eyes

> As Sally is warm-toned and wearing bronze, Sally opts for our Warm Browns Eye Shade Trio

> Use Cream all over your lids with a Shadow Blending Brush

> Take some Cocoa and create some shading just above your socket line in sweeping or 'windscreen wiper' motions

> Bring the Cocoa down a little into the outer corners of your eyes in a sideways V-Shape to create a fox eye effect

> Finally, take some Chocolate and a Wedge Brush and create your eyeliner by pressing it into your upper lash line. You can bring it down onto your lower lash line too if you want a more dramatic look

3. Adding Shimmer

> Evening light really flatters any shimmer that you add to your face. When you turn your face, the light will reflect from anywhere you added shimmer and will create dimension and luminosity

> Take some Sheer Brilliance Lid Colour in either Golden Mist if you are warm toned, or Silver Mist if you are cool toned, and dab a little dot into the inner corner of your eyes. Blend using the warmth of your fingertip

> Apply Instant Bright Highlight along the top of your cheekbones, on your brow bones, down the centre of your nose and in your cupid's bow. Again, blend out with your fingertips and don't be afraid to add a little more than you would in the daytime!

4. Your Lips

4. Your Lips

> Before you start your party makeup, apply some lip balm to your lips and scrub them gently with a toothbrush to exfoliate them

> Apply Never Feather Lip Prime around the edges of your lips to seal them and prevent any lipstick from bleeding into the fine lines around your mouth. This should be done at least 5 minutes before applying your lipstick

> Use our longer lasting 'Stay All Day' Lipstick to prevent your lippy from transferring onto any glasses or cutlery

> Using a precision Lip Brush to apply your lipstick allows you to line your lips with precision

> Add a Lip Gloss on top of your lipstick to finish off a truly glamorous, luxe makeup look
