I enjoyed watching this married life isn't all roses but the soundtrack was strange I felt.

Very well written, and insightful as usual Tricia. We would have been married 50 years this year, and all the things you talk about are exactly what makes a marriage work. I think I miss the routine mundane things the most. He has been gone three years now.

Thankyou for your insight into that programme. I found it very depressing but now that I’ve read what you think I can see it for what it was. I have been married for 43 years and think that marriage is good for the man but stifling for the women. I wish I hadn’t got married and had my independence, it’s too late now as nowhere to go. My children think older people are a nuisance probably and I feel like I’m waiting to die if it asnt for my dogs I probably would.

I'm so sorry you feel like this Sandra, you sound very sad. Would it help to talk to someone ? I think Esther Rantzen's Silverline has people who may be able to offer you some support? Tx

Tomorrow my husband and I have been married for 47 years. It feels like a lifetime(!) having married at the age of 20. The 70's were a very different time, marriage meant besides falling in love, moving out of the parental home and to a degree becoming independent. I really enjoyed 'Marriage', the content of which we have experienced in our marriage. My husband didn't understand the theme music which I thought was very apt. In a marriage or long term partnership couples do move around each other - to the back, to the side accumulating in a crescendo - possibly a row or getting back on track. Brilliant writing.

Couldn’t agree more! Found first episode tedious but stuck with it and found it very profound and insightful. I was married 16 years, then divorced. Remarried and have just celebrated 30 years with my Atlas. ????
