What an amazing list of inspiring women. Such a diverse group of talent. I’m enjoying being 65, I think as I’ve got older, my family grown, l’m loving the freedom retirement has brought and the time to just sit and reflect and appreciate. Sometimes we’re so busy either productive or worrying we’re not productive enough we miss the simple beauty. Fabulous blog Tricia, I look forward to reading it on Sunday morning with my coffee.

Well done Tricia. I agree with all the top 10 - I have only read these so will go back and read the complete list. Thank you Tricia for all the 'events' you do for us. Such a lovely group to be part of and you should be very proud of what you have achieved x

Dear Trish, Love the short list. Certainly diverse but covers all areas. These women are all amazing and worthy of our respect and admiration. If I had to chose a favourite it would be Dame Jane Goodall. She makes me so proud to be a member of the human race. Jenny xx

May I congratulate you, Tricia, on compiling a list which, imo, will find favour with a great variety of your readers. Not an easy task! There are one or two I’d probably query and I’ m sure many would say the same, mostly because we can think of others we’d rather have seen included, but it is diverse, eclectic and a real acknowledgement of what women do, in so many ways, every day. I suspect there would be few who wouldn’t see someone, if not several, whom they admire. What a fabulous group! More power to the older woman. If you want something done, ask any one of them. Great, one of the best for a while.

I am pleased to see Princess Anne in the top ten. You didn't mention her own charity The Princess Royal Trust for Carers. She started this in 1991 & I was the first manager of the Centre in Winchester Hampshire. The organisation is now called the Carers Trust are this is a network of 144 centres. The Princess is still active in the charity visiting centres throughout the country.
