How to check your Browser and Operating System are up to date

If you want to shop safely online, you need to keep your browser and operating system secure.

That means using the latest versions as they’re constantly being updated to keep them safe.

Don't worry - we are here to help!

Follow the steps below:

Your Browser - Time to check what version you are using:

Safari:

Open Safari. Click on the Safari Menu at the top of the page, select About Safari - note what version it says you are using

Chrome:

Open Chrome. Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of your screen, select Settings, then About Chrome - note what version it says you are using

Android:

Open your web browser. Click on the 3 horizontal lines at the bottom right corner of your screen, select settings, then About Android Webview/Samsung Internet - note what version it says you are using

Tip - If your browser isn’t listed here, try a Google search, e.g. is my browser up to date?

Your Operating System. Time to check what version you are using:

iOS:

Open Settings, select General and then About - note what version it says you are using

Android:

Open Settings, select About Phone, then Software Information - note what version it says you are using

Mac:

Click the Apple icon on the menu at the top left corner of your screen, select About This Mac - note what version it says you are using

Windows

Click the Start button, select Settings. In Settings, select System, then About - note what version it says you are using

Next - Do a quick Google search to check if that’s the most recent version:

E.g. What's the latest version of Chrome?

If that number is higher, then you need to get the update!

Then it is time to update your device:

How to update on iOS:

Open Settings, select General, then Software Update. Select Customize Automatic Updates/ Customize Automatic Updates). Select automatically download and install updates

How to update on Android:

Open Settings, select About Phone, click Check for Updates. If an update is available, select Install

How to update on Mac:

Click the Apple icon on the menu at the top left corner of your screen, select System Preferences, then Software Update. If updates are available, click Update Now

How to update on Windows:

Click the Start button, select Settings, then Update & Security, then Windows Update, then Check for updates. If updates are available, install them

If you need to update your operating system, your browser version will often update automatically. So check your browser version again as you may have already updated it.

If your browser still needs updating, or if you only need to update your browser:

Phone or tablet: Open Settings, select General, then Software Update. Select Customize Automatic Updates/ Customize Automatic Updates). Select automatically download and install updates
