As we age, our makeup needs and techniques may change. Sally, a makeup artist of over 35 years, tells you her top 5 makeup secrets for older women...

Tip 1: Apply Your Makeup in Natural Light

> Try to sit in front of a window to get natural daylight

> Use a magnifying mirror with the right level of magnification for you

> Avoid artificial lighting, as it can cast shadows or distort colours

> If natural light isn’t available, you could consider buying a ring light

Tip 2: Let Your Skincare Absorb Before Applying Makeup

>Properly prepped skin is the key to smooth, long-lasting makeup

> Wait a few minutes after applying your skincare products before moving on to makeup

> After applying Moisturiser, use the time to get dressed, do your hair, or brush your teeth. This allows your skincare to fully absorb, ensuring a better makeup application

Tip 3: Applying Eye Makeup To Your Socket Line

> Apply a slightly darker Eyeshadow just above the socket line to add depth

> Use a simple stencil, like a cotton pad against your eye or the edge of your Eyelash Curler, to create the shape of a false socket line

> Use Brush 9 to apply the shade darker shade and Brush 7 to blend. The more you blend, the better your eye makeup will look

Tip 4: Keep Your Lipstick in Place All Day

> Lightly dust Translucent Powder through the tissue using a Powder Brush to set the colour

Tip 5: Hold Your Mirror at Arm’s Length

> When applying makeup, make sure to check each step in a non-magnified mirror

> Once finished, hold your mirror at arm’s length and assess the overall look as this is how others will see you
