The clocks go back this weekend, so we are now firmly into the season of “mists and mellow fruitfulness”. I know that many don’t, but I love this time of year when the nights draw in and there is a blaze of colour as the leaves turn from palest cream to the dark warm red of the virginia creeper growing up the side my daughter’s house. Which brings me to the subject of those colour tones found in each season which work best to enhance your looks whether in your clothes or makeup.

Hi Sue

You may be one of those confusing people who is 'neutral' - which means that there are no colours which are terrible on you! I'd trust those colours you are drawn to and which get you the most compliments. I realise that's a bit vague but trust your instincts about what makes you feel and look your mosty confident self.
I discovered Kettlewell before I discovered LFF. I am 76 and love bright colours, but I think you hit the nail on the head in one of your blogs when you said that most mature women seem to wear porridge colours. It is always a difficult job trying to find colourful skirts that don’t show your Knickers when you bend over. It seems that most fashion houses deliberately cater for the young and thin. To discover Kettlewell has been refreshing to say the least. I wish I had more money to spend, but I am gradually upgrading my wardrobe with some colourful core pieces from Kettlewell and re learning how to use make up again. So thank you to both for the inspiration I needed to get out of the rut.

Your photos show you looking just great, but always the same expression - why can't we see you just for once looking different, laughing or properly smiling with an open mouth?
