I’ve had two brilliant excuses for hitting the shops to treat myself to a few new clothes for the summer season: one was my trip to Thailand in January when temperatures there were in the low 30º C, and the second is the fact that I have just dropped a dress size thanks to a health-inspired restricted eating plan, namely the Fast 800 diet. I’ve lost nearly a stone in total, so, you can imagine my delight when I tried on a size 12 pair of white trousers in Hobbs and they fitted me like a glove!

When you read this I will have just flown back from Brindisi in Puglia, Italy after spending a week (attempting) to learn Italian. The weather (unlike in the UK) has been wonderfully warm and sunny and these clothes were all perfect for my holiday which was a mixture of ‘classroom’, sessions, day trips to local areas of interest and some more formal evenings when we either ate a delicious meal cooked by our chef in the villa or out at a local restaurant. The Whistles jacket was essential wear for my 6.10 am flight from a very chilly Gatwick airport.

Here are photographs and details of eight of my outfits. In addition I took three or four cotton T shirts (Bella Di Notte) and a couple of silk blouses in case the temperature really soared (from NRBY and Pazuki).

Blue Linen Hobbs blouse worn with Hobbs wide straight-legged trousers. Moccasin-style shoes Gabor. Blue heart shaped earrings Toolally

Pink Italian knit top and Hobbs trousers with Gabor shoes and pink earrings from Sahara London

Pale blue shirt with embroidered front panel from Bella Di Notte with white jeans also Bella di Notte. Earrings Toolally white heart and crystal drops

Oversized white and blue striped cotton shirt from Whistles, worn over a sleeveless round neck white T shirt, also Whistles. Bella Di Notte trousers and blue Toolaly earrings and Ray Ban sunglasses

Purply-blue Alquema by Sahara London jacket over Paul Smith lilac linen trousers. Navy wedge -heeled suede sandals from Sole Bliss.

Linen navy blue embroidered dress from Sahara London. Sole Bliss navy suede sandals and earrings white crystal heart shaped drops from Toolally and hat bought aeons ago.

Navy sleeveless dress from Uniqlo, turquoise blue jacket Alquema by Sahara London, Pearl rope necklace originally from Fenwicks and earrings from Oliver Bonas. Shoes from Sole Bliss as before.

Purple lightly padded ‘swing’ jacket for cooler summer days and evenings in the UK, by Whistles, Bella di Notte jeans and Gabor white moccasins with silver trim.
