Hi Tricia Thank you for this post. You can't believe how relieved it made me feel to realise that I am not alone in these anxieties. I live alone and on the one hand crave social connections once more but on the other the very thing I crave now seems to send me into a fit of overthinking and anxiety. I too have found breathing and mindfulness very helpful to keep me "in the present". Good luck and thank you for your honesty - such a helpful post for me. Jane

Dear Tricia, I love your Blogs because you are so honest and open about yourself. May I recommend a book I have just read. It is called How to Age Without Growing Old and is written by an American Bible teacher called Joyce Meyer. She is 78 but looks years younger and is very glamorous like you! She has been through a lot of hard stuff in her life so knows what she is talking about. It is full of good common sense and practical advice. You can watch her on channel 65 9.30 am Monday to Friday. The book is available for £12 including postage, on offer at the moment as it’s only just out, from her UK office 01753 831102 . Joyce has written over 130 books many of which are best sellers. She is very amusing as well. Many thanks fo all you do for us mature ladies! Sincerely, Pamela Woodbridge Many thanks for all you do for us mature ladies!

Another great blog Tricia. I have been (am) experiencing the same feelings of fear, anxiety and confusion. I am most happy when I am alone as I feel safe and secure. My feelings are erratic and my heart races when I am confronted with things I feel I can’t deal with. Fear has found its way into my life and it is debilitating. Deep breathing, meditation...these help but are not yet part of my daily routine. I have never been a disciplined person and find routine against my nature. However, the first step in coping with these negative feelings is to acknowledge them. Accept that our lives will not be the same. The world has changed forever and we must also change in order to exist and live a life that although not the same as before, can be fulfilling and hopefully, joyful. Jenny Meffert

Hi Tricia You are not alone feeling anxiety - I know of people in their forties now being intimidated with motorway driving. I am known as the A & B road ‘girl’ as having had a phobia of motorways all my life - although love driving on other roads I have had to live with it and use the train for long distances - I feel sure your fear will be very short lived! I have just discovered a really interesting website - although rather late in the day now - Heygo virtual tours all around the world - tends to take your mind off other things! This week I will visit Florence Madrid & Paris! Love reading your blogs thank you x

Dear Tricia, What a brave thing to do , to speak out about your episodes of anxiety , you are facing your fears in the best way . I thought your article was really inspiring , thank you . Anybody who has not experienced anxiety just cannot appreciate how debilitating it can be !! If you had put me in a line up of 1000 people I would have said “ she won’t be anxious “ , then ........ 2005 “ it arrived “ ! Out of nowhere . I managed myself by going to the Brahma Kumaris world spiritual organisation , it is wonderful ! Teaching people to meditate , and running courses , if you haven’t heard of them to look them up . 16 yrs on I did have a “ wobble “ in 2011 and I do take a daily anti-depressant ( mirtazapine , wonderful drug ! ) I continue to meditate , several times a week , just for a few minutes sometimes , I really do not know what would have become of me without their sound guidance and loving attitude . I use meditation in my daily life , ie at the dentist , when I had a. Operation on my face at Christmas time , in crowded places like trains etc . If by telling you about the Brahma Kumaris helps just one person , then it is worth it . Thank you Sue .
