I have enjoyed and admired your Sunday blogs especially Being a Carer, Just One Thing and As seen on Screen. As a retired NHS hospital consultant I was very interested to hear your Tea time conversation with the impressive ITU consultant. Your work to challenge Ageism is very praiseworthy and sadly necessary. Although I enjoyed my day at the Olympics in London, especially seeing smiling policeman and soldiers and beautiful wild flowers, I did not share your interest in the recent ones but I agree that watching many sports played well, and with good rhythm and co-ordination so that it seems to be effortless is quite addictive. Please do not retire when Covid is no longer a major problem Our lives would be poorer without you. Felicity Furber.

Thank you Tricia for another excellent blog as always. Never disappoints! A great start to the week. A brilliant summary of the Tokyo Olympic Games and shows the sheer determination, the huge talent and passion that each competitor has for his or her sport. It has provided some exciting and breathtaking moments on television and taken our minds and thoughts away from the pandemic going on around the world.

Thanks, Tricia! I found myself agreeing with so many of your comments about the richness and variety of both the experiences and the variety of human bodies - all beautiful and all trained with dedication and persistence to achieve their potential! I’m glad these games went ahead and hope that Japan doesn’t suffer from the increased Covid risks! It’s helped all involved I’m sure whether it’s us sitting watching on tv or all those who’ve worked so hard to bring it to us, sportsmen and sportswomen, trainers, organisers, presenters, cameramen, editors etc. soo many! I have loved the generosity of spirit and camaraderie amongst the competitors! Wonderful! It has been both inspiring and encouraging! We can all try to accept the wonder of our bodies. Years ago I had a relaxation tape that told me that whatever aches and pains we may feel, there is always more in our bodies that is working than there is not working!! So true! Have a really super break for August, Tricia and thanks for all your work this year in keeping us challenged and entertained! See you in September.
